Rear derailleurs can take a beating if the bike falls over. They wear if you use them. Here is a rare new 50th Anniversary derailleur to mitigate the scrapes of time on your worn one...I can guarantee it’ll look great as long as you don’t ever drop the bike or shift it to low gear…even once…that’s part of the story on this derailleur… a client wanted a 50th anniversary group but needed a wide range. I set up the bike with a 26 t large rear sprocket…peddling and shifting this changer on the work stand, this changer was struggling to shift from the 23 to the 26 cog..not enough range for the client.., I took it off and used a Spence Wolf modified NR changer with his long cage plates instead…that first shift into the 26t scratched the pusher plate… I took it apart to polish the scratch out but lost a little bit of anodizing in the process… you can see the line in one of the pics… has this changer ever been ridden on a bike. No, just shifted once…The first shift into the 26 t cog on the repair stand scratched the anodizing.. I guess Tullio just wanted people to take these in and out of their boxes and stare at them while they wiped them down with a soft cloth..lol all that being said, it’s a beauty and perfect in every other way.. if you actually plan to ride the bike you put it on, this one’s discounted in price because of the loss of anodizing…every other bit of bling is waiting to captivate you.
