Ok, so it’s a lot of money but you will get a lot of value for the money. This sale includes my entire Digital collection, you get one working PDP-11/34 with two RL drives all in its original DEC rack with power controller and all cables. A PDP-11/23 with RL drive and CDC ½ inch open reel tape transport in DEC rack with all cables and power controller. Several RL disk packs with RT-11 operating system, BASIC and XXDP Diagnostics software. A VT-100 terminal A bunch of spare cards for the two systems including a second PDP-11/34 chassis, A dual RX-02 drive with controller, parts RL drives, another Q Bus system and maybe a VAX-2 just for fun. Lots of documentation too.Unlike a lot of the PDP-11 stuff others are selling the two systems are all complete and running. You can see them yourself because I have several videos on You Tube for both systems. Just do a search for “PDP-11/34” or “PDP-11/23” and my videos will be among the first that show up,you will see my E bay user name and You Tube name are very similar, you can also see the ways the systems were built up over the years.
Now for the sticky parts. I will not consider breaking up and selling individual items, so don’t ask if I will sell just this or that .Its everything or nothing at this time. May consider selling the spare units or parts at a later date but not now.
Second is that I have no interest in shipping the collection. It’s a truckload at least and for that reason whoever wants to purchase this stuff must plan for transportation. If you come and pick up in person I will help with disassembly and provide education on the hardware as part of the purchase at no additional cost. This will not include any loading or placing equipment on pallets or loading trucks.
It’s all located on the eastern shore of Maryland just about two hours outside of Baltimore or Washington.
If you have read this far it may be apparent that I am not the most motivated seller, but I only have a small amount of workspace in my shop and for that reason I am considering selling off the DEC collection. If you ever wanted the opportunity to play around with PDP-11 hardware this maybe it, two complete working systems along with a ton of spares.
Thought about shipping:
The 11/34 rack weighs around three to four hundred pounds, between the 11/34 itself, two RL drives and the DEC rack and side panels. The second rack is just about the same with 11/23, expansion chassis CDC tape transport and controller and AC power controller. The hardware may be less but the rack itself is larger.
The terminals are maybe fifty pounds each. There is the one in the picture and a second one that can go with everything else. There is a second 11/34 chassis along with two or three RL drives that have to be around at least two hundred pounds along with the RX-02 drive that’s maybe fifty pounds and a couple boxes of spare cards for both systems along with a Vax 2 that’s in the same chassis as a typical Q bus system. And there is a huge LA-36 or 200 or something like that line printer that can go with all this. That’s the size of a small desk and maybe one hundred fifty pounds.
There is also eight RL disk packs and a couple reels of ½ tapes along with all the documentation but that’s all on CD as PDF files so that part is easy.
All of this is around one thousand pounds or so and I have no interest in trying to pack and ship all this stuff.
Sorry to be so difficult about this but I can only see this all traveling by truck being picked up here. It would all fit into a full size truck like a F-150 but it would be a load.
