The MechBoard64 is a premium, hand made mechanical keyboard for the Commodore 64
The MechBoard64 was designed by MtnBuffalo of Breadbox64 to complement the reproduction
Commodore 64
parts currently on the market today. If you're a C64 enthusiast, you know that you can buy brand new Commodore 64 cases today, as well as new "reproduction" mainboards, chips and a power supply, etc., but so far nobody has been manufacturing new compatible keyboards. This means you're left to scavenge one from an original Commodore 64.
MechBoard64 provides an ultrahigh quality alternative, that exceeds the capabilities and specifications of the original C64 keyboard,
by a long shot
!
MechBoard64 fits perfectly into the original Breadbin style case and the newer C64c style case. It's also supported in many of the newer, alternative case styles, such as the Plexilazer acrylic
MechBoard64 is compatible with
all
of the original C64 motherboard varieties that have been produced over the years (e.g., assy 250407, 250425, 250466, 250459, etc.), as well as many of the newer "reproductions" and "re-implementations", such as the SixtyClone, the Ultimate 64 and even the BMC64 (
BMC64 requires
a
keyboard & joystick breakout board
).

Keyboard frame (typically laser-cut and bent to specification)
Surface mount electronics bill of materials, data connection pin header and jumpers
Mechanical key switches (either CherryMX or Gateron are compatible)
Key inserts that enable key switches to fit standard C64 keys
A set of Commodore 64 key caps from an original C64 keyboard (or from the CBMSTUFF indiegogo campaign)
"Costar" key stabilizer clips and rods for the Enter and Space keys
A 20 pin data cable, with female connectors
